2017 Wo-Zha-Wa Run - Wisconsin Dells

Wisconsin's Oldest Long Distance Race

The September 16, 2017 Wo-Zha-Wa Run

2017 Race Report

The 50th Annual Wo-Zha-Wa run was held on September 16, 2017 at Wisconsin Dells, WI. The temperature was a challenge as it moved into the high 70's with full sunshine but a record breaking field was up to it. 345 registered for our largest field ever. Over 300 checked in and a record 296 completed the two events with 165 finishing the Four Mile (also a record) and 131 completing the Half Marathon.

Wisconsin Dells native, Tom Cook, now living in Austin, MN, won the Half Marathon with a time of 1:30:49. Brittany Kozlowski of New Berlin posted a time of 1:38:09.02 to win the women's division and was 4th overall. Last year's winner, Alejuandro Cayetano of Wisconsin Dells finished third (1:38:09.0) behind Scott Metzler (1:37:19) of Green Bay.

Both the male and female course records were challenged in the Four Mile as Andy Beck (Madison) missed the record by just seven seconds as he torched the field with a 20:41 finish. Krista Jahimiak was just 36 seconds off the women's record with a 24:12 finish which not only won her division but was 2nd overall. Last year's champion, Corey Splittgerber (Berlin) was 4th overall with a 27:25 time just behind Brandon Jones (Sun Prairie) at 26:04. Women again outnumbered men in both races and made up 57% of the total field.
